Latham, Young tons power New Zealand to 320

Dew played a crucial role in New Zealand's decision to chase a score. Tom Latham and Will Young constructed fluid tons, laying the foundation for a competitive total of 320/5. Glenn Phillips smashed Pakistan's death bowling to help New Zealand post a strong total.

The match began with New Zealand enjoying the better of the opening exchanges, with Young clipping away friendly deliveries for boundaries. Pakistan's fast bowlers found little lateral movement, and Young's aggressive batting helped New Zealand reach 30 runs in the first five overs.

However, Pakistan's breakthrough came in the sixth over, with Devon Conway bowled by a slider. The hosts doubled down on that breakthrough, and Naseem Shah had Kane Williamson feathering an edge to the 'keeper in the next over.

Young continued to score boundaries, but Daryl Mitchell struggled to get in on the pitch. He was eventually hurried on a pull shot, reducing New Zealand to 73/3 in the 17th over. Young then guided Latham as New Zealand sought to build a partnership.

The two batters combined for an excellent 118-run stand, with the boundaries keeping coming. New Zealand maneuvered themselves to 148 at the 30th over mark, with Latham getting to his 50 off 61 balls. He then got his second fifty in just 31 balls to complete his eighth ODI ton.

Phillips took down both Shaheen and Rauf at the death to score 61 off just 39 balls, helping New Zealand sail past the 300-mark. The match is now set up for a challenging chase for Pakistan.

Brief scores: New Zealand 320/5 in 50 overs (Tom Latham 118*, Will Young 107; Naseem Shah 2-63) vs Pakistan
