Jaker Ali Hopes for Batting Improvement in Rawalpindi

Bangladesh batter Jaker Ali expressed optimism about his team's batting performance on Pakistan's pitches during the upcoming matches against New Zealand and Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Following Bangladesh's opening game loss against India by six wickets, where they struggled to post 228 after collapsing to 35 for 5, Jaker emphasized the importance of strong batting:

  • On batting conditions: "If the wicket is good, we hope to have some good results. We have seen the match between Pakistan and New Zealand, and the wicket looks good."
  • On team performance: "I still think we have a chance to make a comeback in the tournament. I think we still can perform better. We need to be spot on if we want to survive in the tournament and need to do well in every aspect."

Jaker highlighted his partnership with Towhid Hridoy, who scored his maiden ODI century, after Bangladesh were reduced to 35-5 in just 8.3 overs:

  • "It was difficult in the beginning, but we tried to put up a good score. We did well in the middle overs but couldn't finish well. If we could do a little better, it would have been good for us."

Reflecting on his innings, Jaker discussed his approach:

  • "I was playing according to my plan, focusing on creating opportunities. I faced a hat-trick ball and was lucky to survive after Rohit Sharma dropped me. I changed my approach after the first ball and focused on playing ball by ball."

The Bangladesh batter also emphasized the team's mindset:

  • "We weren't thinking too far ahead. We concentrated on playing ball by ball and tried to take the game deep."

Jaker's comments highlight Bangladesh's determination to improve and bounce back in the tournament.
