BCB yet to pay Shakib for final four months of his contract
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to pay Shakib Al Hasan for the final four months of his 2024 contract, despite announcing a salary increase for players. The reason for the delay is that Shakib's bank account was frozen, according to BCB officials.
Shakib is expected to receive BDT 48 Lakhs (USD 38400) excluding taxes for the period of September to December. The all-rounder was given an all-formats contract by the BCB in February 2023, alongside other players.
Shakib had announced his retirement from Tests and T20Is during the Kanpur Test against India in September, but did not return home to play against South Africa due to security reasons. He was accused in a murder case during the unrest that led to the fall of the government while playing the Test series against India, but continued playing as the BCB allowed him to do so until he was proven guilty.
BCB cricket operation chairman Nazmul Abedin has assured that Shakib will receive his payment as per the agreement, regardless of whether he plays or not.
