No complaints from Klaasen about South Africa's Dubai dash
South Africa's cricket team spent around 18 hours in Dubai, between their match against England in Karachi and their semifinal against New Zealand in Lahore. This was due to security reasons and the possibility of playing their semifinal in Dubai. However, India's 44-run win over New Zealand in Dubai meant that South Africa would be facing the Kiwis in Lahore.
Heinrich Klaasen, the South African wicketkeeper-batsman, stated that the team used this time to walk around and recover before their next match. He also mentioned that both teams playing in Lahore had to travel, and South Africa at least had some off-time to stretch their legs.
The to and fro was necessary because India is based in Dubai for the entire tournament due to security fears and political concerns. This has led to some criticism about unfair advantages for the Indians, as they haven't had to change hotels or adjust to different conditions. However, Klaasen didn't express any concerns about India's privilege.
During their short stay in Dubai, some South African players went for night golf or visited malls, but they didn't watch cricket or focus on the outcome of Sunday's match. Klaasen emphasized that, to win the tournament, they would have to beat two good teams, regardless of the venue.
