Mahmudullah opts out of BCB central contract for 2025

Experienced cricketer Mahmudullah has requested the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) not to offer him a central contract from March 2025. In the proposed central contract list for 2025, the selection panel had placed Mahmudullah in the grade B category. A BCB official confirmed that Mahmudullah will receive his salary for January and February, as he was part of the central contract that began at the start of the year.

Mahmudullah's decision comes after his place in the national team was scrutinized following the Champions Trophy. With 239 ODIs in his 18-year career, he is expected to retire from ODIs soon. It is understood that Mahmudullah informed the board he is not interested in participating in the 2027 World Cup, and his withdrawal from the central contract is seen as a step in that direction.
