Tanzim Works on New Run-up to Boost Pace

Bangladesh assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin believes that Tanzim Hasan Shakib can increase his pace by refining his run-up. Salahuddin has been working with Shakib to address his run-up at the BCB academy, focusing on accelerating and not de-accelerating.

"To generate force, you need to have a smooth run-up," Salahuddin said. "Shakib's run-up is de-accelerating at the last moment, which is reducing his pace by 1-2 kmph. If he can maintain his acceleration, he can gain more pace."

Shakib is working on adjusting his run-up to achieve a smoother, more consistent pace. "I'm trying to have a smooth run-up because it's essential for me to have it to earn success as a pace bowler," he said. "I'm trying to maintain the same flow from start to end, but I'm getting slow at the last moment, which is de-accelerating."

Shakib acknowledges that it will take time to adjust to the new run-up, but he is making progress. "I'm improving slowly, and I've tried to bowl with my new run-up in the ongoing DPL," he said. "I also believe that a smooth run-up will help me swing the ball more effectively, so I need to work on it to improve both my pace and swing."
