Aiden Markram's IPL Form a Boon for South Africa Ahead of WTC Final

Aiden Markram's return to form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has raised hopes for South Africa ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Markram has scored four half-centuries in his last six innings for Lucknow Super Giants, including against top-class attacks featuring Mitchell Starc, Axar Patel, and Jofra Archer.

Markram's success in the IPL is a stark contrast to his previous form, where he passed 50 only three times in his last six innings for South Africa and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. His impressive strike rate of 155.78 and ability to hit 60.26% of his runs in fours and sixes have been key to his success.

However, not all South African players have enjoyed the same level of success in the IPL. Heinrich Klaasen, Ryan Rickelton, Quinton de Kock, and Faf du Plessis have each scored one half-century, while Tristan Stubbs and David Miller have yet to reach the milestone.

South Africa's bowlers, including Marco Jansen, have also struggled to make an impact in the tournament. Jansen leads the pack with eight wickets, but his economy rate of 9.23 is some way off the pace set by Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood, who have claimed 16 wickets each.

The WTC final is scheduled to take place on June 11 at Lord's, and South Africa will need Markram to continue his good form and Jansen to improve his bowling to have any chance of success. The return of Kagiso Rabada to the tournament would also be a significant boost for the team.
