Faruque Ahmed Announces Candidacy
Faruque Ahmed, former national cricketer and BCB chief selector, will run for re-election as Bangladesh Cricket Board president in October.
Background

Challenges Faced by Faruque
Since taking over, Faruque has faced criticism and threats from local coach Nazmul Abedin, who was appointed as a director by the National Sports Council. Faruque has also been accused of match fixing scandals and financial irregularities.
Election Plans
Faruque has announced his intention to run for re-election, stating that he will fight against corruption in the Board. He has not disclosed much about his election plan, but has expressed his commitment to eliminating corruption from cricket.
Experience
Faruque has previously served as BCB chief selector for two terms, from 2003 to 2007 and from 2013 to 2016. He has also played seven ODIs for Bangladesh.
Election Uncertainty
The election is scheduled for October, but it could be held earlier due to another group planning to bring a candidate for the President post.
