Bangladesh are expecting pace bowler Taskin Ahmed to be available for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka in June, provided he successfully completes his rehabilitation.

Sri Lanka are set to host Bangladesh in a multi-format bilateral series spanning a month from June 17 to July 16.

Taskin, who missed the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, recently consulted with a team of medical specialists in London regarding his ongoing Achilles tendon issue. The fast bowler will also miss the upcoming tour of Pakistan and UAE where the tourists will play seven T20I matches.

A comprehensive rehabilitation plan has been formulated and will be implemented under the supervision of the Bangladesh national team support staff.

"The specialists believe that a conservative, non-surgical approach is the best course of action for Taskin at this time. The rehabilitation programme is tailored to gradually restore his fitness and manage the tendon condition effectively. We are optimistic about his progress," BCB senior physician Debashish Chowdhury said.

"Taskin is expected to regain match fitness by early June, pending successful completion of his rehabilitation," he concluded.

Bangladesh will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 13 while the tour will kick off with the two-match Test series with the first match beginning from June 17 at Galle.
