IPL 2025: SACA, CA express concerns over player safety

South African Cricketers' Association and Cricket Australia have expressed concerns regarding the safety of their players who were partaking in the IPL 2025.

The match between PBKS and DC had to be aborted halfway into the first innings, following which the BCCI decided to suspend the tournament for one week.

"The health and safety of players is not negotiable. We are in direct contact with all the South African players at the IPL and keeping them updated with security reports. We have offered them any support they need," said Andrew Breetzke, the chief executive of the South African Cricketers' Association.

Cricket Australia echoed those thoughts, saying: "We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India, including obtaining regular advice and updates from the Australian Government, the PCB, BCCI and local government authorities, and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region."

Just hours before the escalations, Cricket West Indies issued a release stating that it was in touch with both BCCI and PCB to take stock of the situation.
