Healy Targets Home Summer After 2025 World Cup
Australia captain Alyssa Healy intends to play in the home summer after the 2025 ODI World Cup, ending speculation about her potential retirement after the event. Healy had previously considered an ideal exit scenario, but her break from the game due to a stress fracture in her foot has pushed those plans back.
"I've realized I still want to do a little bit more than I thought. At the same time, there are things in life more important than playing for Australia. It's a constant reassess, but I want to play a home summer and bring the World Cup home. I also want to play against India in February-March."
Healy's last competitive game was the Women's Ashes Test in January, where she played as a pure batter due to her injury. She's now close to her comeback, having been picked in the A squad to face India A. Healy has been selected for the T20 and one-day squads, while vice-captain Tahlia McGrath will play the one-dayers.
Fast bowlers Kim Garth and Darcie Brown have also been picked for the series, which will serve as ideal preparation for the World Cup in India.
