Jaiswal, Sarfaraz help Mumbai hunt down 235
Haryana posted 234 after a dominant batting display, but it proved insufficient against Yashasvi Jaiswal's hundred and a blistering half-century from Sarfaraz Khan as Mumbai registered their first win of the Super League stage.
Asked to bat, Haryana rode on Ankit Kumar's 42-ball 89 (10 fours, six sixes) and a brisk unbeaten 63 off 38 from Nishant Sindhu (four fours, three sixes) to set a daunting total. Tushar Deshpande conceded 52 runs from his four wicketless overs.
In reply, Jaiswal and Ajinkya Rahane set the tone with a rapid half-century stand before the left-handed opener joined forces with Sarfaraz, adding 88 in quick time. Sarfaraz was dismissed for a 25-ball 64 (nine fours, three sixes), while Jaiswal scored 101 off 50 deliveries (16 fours, one six). Mumbai lost a few late wickets but crossed the line comfortably, sealing the chase with 2.3 overs to spare.
Maramreddy Hemanth Reddy, the 23-year-old No. 3 batter for Andhra, smashed an unbeaten 109 off 53 deliveries as Andhra chased down Punjab's 205 to register their first win of the Super League stage. For Punjab, it was a second successive defeat, ruling them out of contention for a place in the final.
Asked to bat, Punjab breached the 200-run mark through a collective effort. Harnoor Singh (30-ball 42) set the platform, while Anmolpreet Singh (47 off 27), Salil Arora (42 not out off 22) and Ramandeep Singh (43 off 18) provided impetus. Nitish Reddy finished with figures of 1 for 39.
Andhra's chase began in disarray, slipping to 12 for 3, with Nitish Reddy dismissed for a duck. The situation worsened to 56 for 5 in the ninth over before Hemanth combined with SDNV Prasad to turn the game with a match-winning 155-run stand. Hemanth struck 11 fours and seven sixes, while Prasad contributed an unbeaten 53 off 35 (two fours, four sixes) as Andhra got over the line off the final ball.
