Dominant Australia clinch ODI series

Australia Women sealed the ODI series against West Indies Women with a commanding 90-run victory in the second match, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead. Chasing 270, the West Indies were bowled out for 179.

Having already swept the T20I series 3-0, Australia are now poised for another clean sweep. Beth Mooney, returning from injury, anchored the innings with a steady 65. From a precarious 140/5, Australia recovered to post 269/7, thanks to valuable contributions from Georgia Wareham (39), Nicola Carey (30*), and a late cameo from Alana King (26*).

Stand-in captain Tahlia McGrath took two wickets, but it was the spin trio of King, Wareham, and Ash Gardner that stifled the West Indies in the middle overs, taking regular wickets.

West Indies started strongly, recording their first 50-run opening stand against Australia in ODIs since 2014. However, the innings unraveled quickly. Captain Hayley Matthews, who had earlier taken three wickets, fell for 45. Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin fell in quick succession, and from 94/2, the hosts collapsed to 130/9.

Chinelle Henry (23) hit one of only two sixes in the match but fell soon after. Afy Fletcher provided some late resistance with an unbeaten 32, but it was in vain.

This marks Australia's fourth consecutive bilateral ODI series win against the West Indies.

Brief scores:
Australia Women 269/7 in 50 overs (Beth Mooney 65, Hayley Matthews 3-40) beat West Indies Women 179 in 46 overs (Hayley Matthews 45, Georgia Wareham 3-29) by 90 runs.
