'Quite happy with the price'- Venky Mysore on acquiring Green

Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank to snap Cameron Green at INR 25.20 crore. The franchise refused to disclose how far they would have gone in pursuit of the Australian all-rounder but said the price correction by the BCCI for overseas players in mini-auctions will have no impact for them. As per BCCI rules, Green's IPL fee will be capped at INR 18 crore despite the higher bid.

"From our standpoint, I don't think there is any concern because this is an outflow for the franchise. The BCCI has made it with their wisdom on capping it at Rs 18 crores. So, we are okay with that. And I don't think it changes anything as far as the options are concerned," said Venky Mysore, KKR's CEO.

Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings were involved in a bidding war, which KKR won due to their higher purse. Mysore refused to disclose their absolute limit for Green. "It's tough to say that. A lot would have depended on the rest of the plans. But I think we will be getting close, is what I can tell you."

Mysore expressed satisfaction with the purchase. "This is something we were really focused on and always hoping for. We were quite happy with the price that we got. There was always a concern that had it gone higher, what we would have done. We were very keen but not so attached. If we felt it would affect the rest of our auction, we would let it go. Fortunately that didn't happen. It came within the range.

"He adds a lot to our team, especially with our new power coach Andre Russell on board. It's a very nice thing to have a young one on the field. We know what he does at the international stage with the bat, with the ball, and his batting position. We couldn't be happier with the new acquisition."
