Match-fee hiked for women's domestic cricket as BCCI revises pay structure

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has substantially increased payments for women domestic cricketers, bringing their match fees virtually on par with the men in domestic cricket.

Under the revised pay structure:

  • Senior women players will now earn INR 50,000 per day for domestic one-day and multi-day games (Playing XI). Non-playing members will receive INR 25,000 per match.
  • For T20 matches, the fee is INR 25,000 for the Playing XI and INR 12,500 for reserves.
  • Previously, senior women in the Playing XI were paid INR 20,000, with bench players receiving INR 10,000.

In junior cricket tournaments, the revised daily pay is:

  • INR 25,000 for the Playing XI and INR 12,500 for reserves in multi-day/one-day games.
  • INR 12,500 for the Playing XI and INR 6,250 for non-playing members in T20 matches.

The BCCI estimates that a senior woman cricketer's seasonal income, previously around INR 2 lakh if a team only played league stages, will now see a substantial increase.

This decision was approved by the BCCI's Apex Council in a virtual meeting on Monday, December 22.

Revised Pay for Umpires and Match Referees

The BCCI has also proposed a revised fee structure for match officials:

  • Umpires officiating in league matches will receive a uniform fee of INR 40,000 per day.
  • For knockout matches, a higher fee of INR 50,000 – INR 60,000 per day is proposed, based on tournament and match status.
  • The same revised daily fee structure (INR 40,000 for league, INR 50,000-60,000 for knockouts) will be extended to match referees.
