BCCI stays financially strong despite Dream11 exit, ICC revenue dip

The finances of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remained robust despite the withdrawal of sponsorship by Dream11 and a shortfall in its International Cricket Council (ICC) revenue share. According to a note submitted to the BCCI Apex Council, the board has offset the deficit by securing a new jersey sponsorship deal with Adidas at a higher valuation for a two-and-a-half-year cycle, followed by an additional sponsorship with Apollo Tyres.

Dream11 exited its ₹358 crore sponsorship deal in August after India's Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 banned real-money gaming, its core business.

The draft budget for FY 2025-2026, presented alongside audited accounts for FY 2024-2025, projects total income at ₹8,963 crore. This reflects a decline from the previous year, primarily due to a reduced share from ICC events—though the exact reduction was not detailed. The BCCI receives 38.5% of ICC income.

Key Financial Highlights:

  • Interest Income: Estimated at ₹1,500 crore for FY 2025-2026, up from ₹1,368 crore, attributed to strong treasury management.
  • General Fund: Increased substantially from ₹7,988 crore to ₹11,346 crore in FY 2024-2025, a surplus of ₹3,358 crore.
  • Projected Surplus: ₹6,728 crore for FY 2025-2026.
  • Infrastructure Allocation: ₹500 crore earmarked for subsidies to develop cricketing infrastructure nationwide.
  • Provisions Made: Include income tax obligations (₹3,320 crore), contingencies (₹1,000 crore), and pending litigation costs (approx. ₹160 crore).
