Atkinson leaves field clutching hamstring

England seamer Gus Atkinson limped off the field early on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test, clutching his left hamstring in yet another injury blow for the visitors.

After delivering the fifth ball of his fourth over this morning, Atkinson held his hamstring immediately and left the field after finishing the over to receive medical attention. He did not bowl another over in the innings and wasn't on the field after the lunch interval.

This is the third major injury for England's pace-bowling attack. Mark Wood was ruled out after the Brisbane Test due to a knee injury while Jofra Archer pulled up with a left-side strain that ruled him out of the Ashes after the Adelaide Test.
