Stokes being assessed for right adductor muscle strain

England have suffered another injury blow as Ben Stokes limped off the field during the morning session on Day 4 of the Sydney Test.

While bowling his 28th over, Stokes clutched his groin after delivering the fourth ball. He left the field in visible discomfort. The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed he is being assessed for a right adductor muscle strain.

With England trailing in the first innings and already 3-1 down in the series, the team will be concerned over their captain's fitness as they attempt to save the Test. It has been confirmed that, despite the injury, he is expected to bat in England's second innings.

England's tour of Australia has been hampered by injuries. Mark Wood and Jofra Archer were ruled out of the Ashes after the Brisbane and Adelaide Tests respectively, while Gus Atkinson suffered a hamstring injury in Melbourne, keeping him out of the Sydney Test.
