Harleen Deol scripts UP Warriorz's first win of WPL 2026
Harleen Deol starred in UP Warriorz's first victory of the season, hitting an unbeaten half-century (64* off 39) to guide her side to a comfortable 7-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. Her efforts ensured Nat Sciver-Brunt's all-round display went in vain.
Batting first, MI got off to a slow start in the PowerPlay, making only 32 runs without losing a wicket. Amanjot Kaur top-scored with 38, but MI struggled to accelerate early on. Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed just as she looked dangerous, leaving Sciver-Brunt and Nicola Carey with a rebuilding job at 86/2 after 13 overs.
Sciver-Brunt launched a late assault, hammering a sparkling fifty and helping MI nearly double their total in the final seven overs. Despite her efforts, MI finished at 161/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 162, Warriorz's openers provided a solid start, scoring 42 in the PowerPlay. However, Sciver-Brunt struck back immediately after the timeout, dismissing both openers in the same over. Harleen Deol, unfazed, raced to 18 off just 9 balls and continued her aggressive innings.
Deol spoiled Shabnim Ismail's figures by hammering three boundaries in an over and later capitalized on a no-ball from Sanskriti Gupta to bring up her fifty. Phoebe Litchfield contributed with a quick cameo before departing at a crucial juncture, leaving Warriorz needing 44 from 30 balls.
Chloe Tryon then took charge, smashing four boundaries and a huge six in an unbeaten cameo to ease the chase. Warriorz reached the target in the penultimate over, finishing at 162/3 in 18.1 overs.
Brief scores: Mumbai Indians 161/5 in 20 overs (Nat Sciver-Brunt 65, Amanjot Kaur 38; Shikha Pandey 1/25) lost to UP Warriorz 162/3 in 18.1 overs (Harleen Deol 64*, Chloe Tryon 27*; Nat Sciver-Brunt 2/28) by 7 wickets.
