BCB to investigate current board director over fixing allegations
The Bangladesh Cricket Board's Integrity Unit is set to begin an investigation against current board director Mohammad Mokleshur Rahman over fixing allegations, a BCB official confirmed on Friday.
It was reported that Mokhleshur was involved in fixing matches in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The allegations surfaced after several phone conversations between Mokhleshur and Noakhali Express chairman Towhidul Haque Towhid were uploaded to a YouTube channel, with Mokhleshur allegedly dictating how matches should be played.
"Alex Marshal, head of the BCB Integrity Unit, has already started his investigation. He has also resigned from BCB's audit committee," a BCB official stated.
Mokhleshur was elected as a director from the Chapainawabganj district sports association in the BCB elections last October.
"For the sake of a proper investigation, I have resigned from the audit committee and all other responsibilities, but I will remain a director. I want a clean investigation into the matter," Mokhleshur said.
Marshall is expected to oversee the inquiry, examining call records, financial trails, and potential breaches of BCB and ICC anti-corruption codes.
Cricbuzz had previously reported on fixing allegations involving the Noakhali Express team.
