MP leapfrog Karnataka with big win; Mumbai, TN secure comfortable wins
Haryana sealed a nine-wicket win over Assam after successfully chasing 170. Three-wicket hauls from Aman Kumar and Tanmay Baloda helped Haryana bowl Assam out for 158 early on the fourth day. Openers Yuvraj Yogender Singh and Ankit Kumar put on a brisk 76-run stand. While Yuvraj Yogender fell in the 14th over, skipper Ankit carried on and stitched a 99-run stand with Ashish Siwach. Both batters remained unbeaten on fifties as Haryana tracked the target down with ease. With their fourth win of the season, Haryana have moved to the second spot on the points table.
Tamil Nadu clinched a mammoth 207-run win over Odisha in their Ranji Trophy clash at Bhubaneswar – their first outright win of the season. Chasing 454 for victory, Odisha resumed the day having already lost both their openers. Captain Subhranshu Senapati (55) and Anil Parida (98) were the only batters to offer significant resistance. All of Sonu Yadav, P Vidyuth, Sai Kishore and Nidhish Rajagopal picked up two wickets each as Odisha were bowled out for 247 in the 84th over.
After bowling Tripura out for 258 early in the day, a breezy 164-stand between Bhupen Lalwani (100*) and Kunal Chandela (83*) helped Uttarakhand seal a comprehensive nine-wicket win. Mayank Mishra starred with the ball for Uttarakhand, registering his second four-wicket haul of the match with figures of 4-80. Uttarakhand have now moved to the third spot on the points table.
Mumbai sealed a nine-wicket win over Hyderabad in the first session of the fourth day after requiring just 10 runs to win. Mumbai narrowly missed out on the opportunity of securing a bonus point, but are comfortably placed at the top of the points table. Resuming the day seven wickets down and with a 127-run deficit, Hyderabad fought to gain the lead, with Chama Milind stitching vital stands with the lower order. A five-wicket haul from Musheer Khan, complimenting his brother Sarfaraz Khan's double-century earlier in the game, ensured a comfortable win for Mumbai.
Madhya Pradesh condemned Karnataka to a disappointing 217-run defeat on home turf. Resuming the day on 204/6, Madhya Pradesh added just 25 runs to their overnight tally before declaring to set Karnataka a 362-run target. Opener Aneesh KV held fort with 57 but saw wickets tumble at the other end. Karnataka were also without Karun Nair, who was substituted by Nikin Jose under the serious injury rule due to a split webbing. Three-wicket hauls from Saransh Jain and Sagar Solanki saw Madhya Pradesh wrap the game up shortly after Tea. With this result, MP have now moved to the second spot on the points table while Karnataka are languishing a point behind, at third.
Andhra claimed a commanding eight-wicket win over Vidarbha after successfully tracking down a 259-run target. Resuming the day on 93/1, Andhra lost Srikar Bharat early in the day but would suffer no further damage as Shaik Rasheed (132*) and Ricky Bhui (64*) shared a defining 145-run stand to seal victory. Andhra have now hopped past Vidarbha to lead Group A.
A swift and unbeaten 52 from Arshin Kulkarni saw Maharashtra track down a 108-run target with eight wickets to spare against Goa. Resuming the day on 210/6, Goa were able to add only 38-runs to their overnight score with Jalaj Saxena claiming a five-wicket haul and Hitesh Walunj taking four. With this result, Maharashtra now lead Group B.
Railways claimed an eight-wicket win after hunting down Gujarat's 99-run target with ease. Resuming the day on 69/2, Railways scored the remaining 30 runs in just under five overs. Earlier in the contest, a five-wicket haul from Karn Sharma had helped Railways restrict Gujarat to 347.
