BCB to exclude A+ category from men's central contract list

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to exclude the A+ category from the upcoming men's central contract list due to a scarcity of all-format cricketers.

BCB's cricket operations committee has prepared a list of 27 cricketers for the 2026 contract. While the list and new salary structure await final board approval, it has been confirmed that, unlike previous years, there will be no A+ category.

A BCB official stated, "We are not having any A+ category in the central contract this year. None of our cricketers are currently playing across all three formats regularly, which was a prerequisite for the A+ bracket."

Mahmudullah, who was included in the 2025 contract until February, is not on the new list following his retirement from all formats. All other 21 members from the previous contract have been retained.

Six new players have been added to the list: Shamim Hossain Patwary, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Murad.

Probable contract list for 2026:
Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Kumar Das, Taskin Ahmed, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Towhid Hridoy, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, Shadman Islam, Soumya Sarkar, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Shamim Hossain Patwary, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Murad.

BCB to launch ODOMMO Bangladesh T20 Cup 2026 from Feb 5

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the launch of a three-team ODOMMO Bangladesh T20 Cup, starting February 5, 2026.

The tournament aims to bring together the country's best T20 players for high-intensity cricket, following the team's disappointment at missing the ICC T20 World Cup.

The competing teams are:

  • Dhumketu XI: Captained by Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Das.
  • Durbar XI: Captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto.
  • Duronto XI: Captained by Akbar Ali.

BCB stated the total prize money and fees for the tournament will be Taka 2.5 Crore. An official emphasized the intent to ensure a competitive environment, saying, "We will be giving match fees… to make sure that the tournament is competitive."

The tournament will introduce a new Impact Player concept. The three group-stage matches are scheduled for February 5, 6, and 7, with the final on February 9.

Ahead of the tournament, the BCB will hold a fitness camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium starting Sunday, February 1.
