Scotland pick left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon for Women's T20 World Cup
Kirstie Gordon, the 28-year-old left-arm spinner, has been picked in Scotland's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, to be played in England. Cricket Scotland announced the 15-player squad, led by Kathryn Bryce, on Monday.
Gordon, who last played an international game for England in 2019, will make her maiden appearance for Scotland. She featured in five T20Is and one Test for England. Her last Scotland appearance was in the 2017 NatWest T20 Cup. In the Women's Hundred, she took 11 wickets in eight matches for Trent Rockets last season. In April 2026, she took eight wickets in five domestic One-Day Cup fixtures for The Blaze.
Head coach Craig Wallace said: "We have multiple world-class players in this team, and Kirstie is definitely one of them. We welcome her involvement and expect her to drive our standards up and help improve Scottish cricket."
The squad also includes uncapped pacer Maisie Maceira, alongside her 2025 Under-19 batchmates Gabriella Fontenla and wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproul.
Squad: Kathryn Bryce (c), Chloe Abel, Olivia Bell, Sarah Bryce, Darcey Carter, Priyanaz Chatterji, Gabriella Fontenla, Katherine Fraser, Kirstie Gordon, Ailsa Lister, Maisie Maceira, Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl, Rachel Slater, Pippa Sproul
Hannah Rainey, Niamh Robertson-Jack, and Mollie Annie Parker have been left out of the squad that finished third in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
"It was hugely difficult to select a fifteen, but that's a testament to the growth and success of the women's game in Scotland over the last few years," Wallace said.
"The depth we have now to choose from is incredible. Every selection is enjoyable, but really tough. I think we've got a really good balance in the squad in terms of what we need to succeed in this tournament."
Scotland will host a tri-series in Edinburgh involving Bangladesh and Netherlands as preparation for the World Cup.
