Shaun Tait likely to leave Bangladesh coaching role
Bangladesh pace bowling coach Shaun Tait is unlikely to continue with the national set-up, with his availability for the upcoming home series against Australia in serious doubt.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed the development to Cricbuzz, adding that the former Australia fast bowler has already informed the board of his intentions. It remains unclear whether he will arrive on June 3, as scheduled, to join the preparation camp ahead of the Australia series.
"I am not sure whether he (Tait) will come to join the team ahead of the Australia series or not, considering he is not ready to continue, citing family reasons," a BCB official said.
Tait, whose contract with the BCB runs until the 2027 ODI World Cup, joined in May 2025 and has been credited for developing young quick Nahid Rana.
Australia will tour Bangladesh from June 9 to 21 for a six-match white-ball series. The three ODIs will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on June 9, 11 and 14. The teams will then travel to Chattogram for the three-match T20I series at the Bir Shreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, with matches scheduled for June 17, 19 and 21.
In recent months, reports have suggested that Tait is interested in joining Bengal's coaching set-up in India and has already appeared for an interview.
