New Zealand lead by 204 at stumps on day three at Trent Bridge, after a day of momentum swings. The visitors bowled England out for 354, taking a first-innings lead of 84, before reaching 120/3 in their second innings.

England's first innings: Resuming on 223/2, England lost Joe Root (21) and Jacob Bethell (74) in the first three overs, slipping to 234/5. Nathan Smith took Root's wicket, while Will O'Rourke got Bethell. Harry Brook (58) and Ben Stokes rebuilt with a half-century stand, but Stokes fell to Zakary Foulkes. Brook reached his fifty as England passed 300, but was bowled by Foulkes after lunch. Lower-order runs from Gus Atkinson and Jofra Archer extended the innings, with Smith, Foulkes, and O'Rourke each taking three wickets.

New Zealand's second innings: Chasing quick runs, they lost Tom Latham LBW to Archer in the first over. Devon Conway fell next over after copping a blow to the helmet. Henry Nicholls survived a dropped chance but was caught by Brook off Atkinson. Rachin Ravindra (60*) counter-attacked, hitting boundaries off Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue. He found solid support from Daryl Mitchell (26*), adding 69 for the fourth wicket. Ben Stokes and Shoaib Bashir bowled in tandem but couldn't break the stand. Archer returned late but failed to strike.
