West Indies docked WTC points for slow over-rate against Sri Lanka
West Indies have been fined 10% of their match fee and docked two World Test Championship (WTC) points for a slow over-rate during the second Test against Sri Lanka in North Sound, Antigua.
ICC match referee Javagal Srinath imposed the sanction after the hosts were found to be two overs short of the required rate once time allowances were taken into account.
Under the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5% of their match fee for each over they fall short, while WTC playing conditions mandate the deduction of one championship point per over short.
Captain Roston Chase accepted the offence and the proposed sanction, avoiding a formal hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Ahsan Raza, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, and fourth umpire Deighton Buttler.
