India fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been warned and handed one demerit point for breaching ICC's Code of Conduct during the first ODI between England and India in Edgbaston.
Brar was guilty of breaching Article 2.9, which relates to "throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and or dangerous manner during an international match."
"The incident occurred in the eighth over of England's innings, when Brar picked up the ball while fielding and threw it towards the batter in an inappropriate and dangerous manner," the ICC pointed out.
Here's how Cricbuzz described the incident:
7.5 Gurnoor Brar to Ben Duckett, no run, fuller length delivery outside off – Duckett leans across and inside halves the drive back at the bowler – Gurnoor collects the ball and then throws it back at the batter, missing Duckett by a whisker
On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Mike Burns, third umpire Sam Nogajski, and fourth official Russell Warren levelled the charge. Brar admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, and so there was no need for a formal hearing.
