Jansen's Stunning Figures, Sri Lanka's Lowest Test Score
South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka for 42 in just 83 balls, the lowest-ever Test score by Sri Lanka, with Marco Jansen taking stunning figures of 7/13. This gave South Africa a first innings lead of 149 on a day where 16 wickets fell in two sessions.
The seaming track in Durban was a nightmare for Sri Lanka as their batters either nicked off or were bowled, with none looking secure in defense. Jansen was the wrecker-in-chief, while Gerald Coetzee chipped in with wickets.
Earlier, South Africa was struggling at 85/6, but Temba Bavuma's 70 helped them reach 191. Sri Lanka's pacers, Lahiru Kumara and Vishwa Fernando, caused trouble, with Kumara dismissing Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder requiring scans for a glove injury.
In reply, Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis scored 13, but no other batter reached double digits. Prabath Jayasuriya took the wicket of Marco Jansen, while Asitha Fernando and Kumara took three wickets each.
