Keeper-bat Ollie Robinson called up to replace injured Jordan Cox

England have added Durham 'keeper Ollie Robinson to their Test squad after an injury to Jordan Cox ruled him out of the ongoing Test tour of New Zealand. Cox was ruled out of the series after fracturing his right thumb during a warm-up match against a Prime Minister's XI in Queenstown. Ollie Pope is keeping for the opening Test.

Before his injury, Cox was primed for a Test debut with incumbent keeper-bat Jamie Smith missing from the series on paternity leave. Robinson was in contention to take up the spot that eventually went to Smith at the start of England's home summer after turning out impressive performances since his move from Kent to Durham. He has nine first-class hundreds, five of which he scored following the move to the north-east. He also averages 53 since the move and has also effected 92 dismissals behind the stumps.

Robinson will be up for selection for the second of the three-Test series which begins at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on December 6. The third Test will be played in Hamilton from December 14.
