Marsh backs Smith, focuses on Gabba challenge

Mitchell Marsh is confident that Steve Smith will find his form in the upcoming match against India at the Gabba. Smith has had a poor run in 2024, with a low average of 23.20 in 13 innings. Marsh expressed his support for Smith, stating that he is a class player who has delivered for Australia in the past.

India, on the other hand, is looking to build on their victory in Adelaide, where they produced a memorable Test win in the 2020-21 tour. However, Australia is focused on the present and is determined to play their style of cricket this week.

Marsh highlighted the challenge of facing Jasprit Bumrah, the No.1 bowler in the world. Bumrah has dismissed Smith twice in three innings and has taken out each of the other top-five batters at least once. Marsh emphasized the importance of applying pressure rather than trying to see Bumrah off.

Marsh also discussed his bowling requirements in the series. He revealed that there was a clear communication made to him from the team management, and he is ready to bowl as much as Pat Cummins needs him to. Marsh is grateful for the support of the medical staff and the team management, who have allowed him to be well-prepared for the game.

Overall, Marsh is focused on contributing to the team's success, whether it's by bowling occasional good balls or giving the other quicks a rest.
