MI Cape Town (MICT) Secures Top Spot, Pretoria Capitals Out of Playoffs Race

MICT clinched another comprehensive win, bolstering their position at the top of the points table and eliminating Pretoria Capitals from the playoffs. The Paarl Royals, Joburg Super Kings, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape will join MICT in the playoffs.

Capitals Fall Short in Chase of MICT's 223

The Capitals had a chance to qualify if they had chased down MICT's 223. Despite a quick start and a fifty from Will Smeed, they couldn't keep up with the required run rate due to regular wickets falling just past the halfway mark.

MICT's Top Order Dominates

Batting first, MICT posted the highest total of the season, thanks to a sensational, unbeaten 142-run stand between Reeza Hendricks and Dewald Brevis. The openers, Rassie van der Dussen and Ryan Rickelton, set the stage with a 15-run first over, followed by a relentless assault on Migael Pretorious, who conceded 69 runs in his four overs.

Brief Scores:

  • MICT: 222/3 (Reeza Hendricks 77*, Dewald Brevis 73*)
  • Pretoria Capitals: 195/8 (Will Smeed 52; Rashid Khan 2-25)

MICT won by 27 runs.
