Limp end looms to SA20 league stage

The league stage of the SA20 tournament is set to end with three dead rubbers. The outcomes of the last three games can't change which four teams will contest the playoffs – Cape Town, Paarl, SEC, and JSK.

• Mumbai Indians Cape Town beat Pretoria Capitals, eliminating Pretoria and Durban's Super Giants (DSG) from the knockouts.
• DSG suffered two washouts and six consecutive losses in 15 days.
• Paarl won seven of eight games, but lost their last two matches.
• Joe Root, Paarl's top scorer, has left for England's ODI squad in India.
• Paarl's captain, David Miller, left the field with a groin injury and his availability for the knockout round is uncertain.

SEC aims for a hattrick of titles, but lost their first three matches. They bounced back, but have since slipped to two more defeats.

• SEC hammered Cape Town by 10 wickets, confirming Cape Town and Paarl Royals will occupy the first two places in the standings.
• Cape Town and Paarl will clash in the first qualifier at St George's Park on Tuesday.
• JSK and SEC will contest the eliminator in Centurion on Wednesday.

After SEC's win at St George's Park on Saturday, Aiden Markram said: "Finding ways to win at home is important, but unfortunately we have to move on now." The focus shifts to the playoffs, where a trophy will be won and lost.
