Rashid Khan Claims World Record for Most T20 Wickets
Rashid Khan has become the world's leading wicket-taker in men's T20s after clean-bowling Dunith Wellalage on Tuesday (February 4) at St George's Park. He surpassed Dwayne Bravo's record of 631 wickets in the format.
Rashid's Achievement
"It's a great achievement," Rashid said. "I would never have thought I could do it if you asked me 10 years ago. It's a proud feeling topping the table when you're from Afghanistan."
Rashid's Unique Path to Success
Rashid has played for 18 teams, compared to Bravo's 30, and has achieved this feat in fewer deliveries. He has also played for less than two-thirds as many teams as Bravo.
Rashid's Team's Success
Rashid's team, the Mumbai Indians Cape Town side, steamrolled Paarl Royals by 39 runs in the first SA20 qualifier. This win meant they advanced directly to Saturday's final at the Wanderers.
