Gill adds consistency to India's form-chasing top-order

Shubman Gill's impressive form continued as he scored a fine 112 against England in Ahmedabad, helping India to a strong finish in their chase.

Gill's innings was marked by his ability to adapt to the conditions and find boundaries with ease. He launched a full ball from Gus Atkinson over long-on for a six and punished a short ball with a pull for four. His understanding of the dimensions of the venue allowed him to access the square boundaries, and he reached his third successive half-century with a square cut off Adil Rashid.

Gill's form has been impressive in recent times, with scores of 87, 60, and now 112 in the 50-over format. He has scored 1900 runs in 35 innings at an average of 61.29 since the start of 2023, and is one of the most technically gifted cricketers in the Indian team.

Gill's consistency has earned him a spot as vice-captain of the team, and he has been praised by the selectors for his leadership qualities. His retention as vice-captain is crucial, especially with Rohit Sharma turning 38 in April and potentially looking to step down as captain in the near future.

Gill's calm and consistent batting has been a key factor in India's success in recent times, and he will be looking to continue his good form in the coming matches.
