Mumbai Indians Go Top of WPL Table with Thrilling Win

Mumbai Indians (MI) secured an eight-wicket victory over UP Warriorz (UPW) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, jumping to the top of the WPL table. Nat Sciver-Brunt's unbeaten 75 and Hayley Matthews' 59 led the charge as MI chased down 143 with three overs to spare.

UP Warriorz Struggle to Post Decent Score

UPW's batting innings was marked by a strong start, with Grace Harris and Vrinda Dinesh putting on 80 for the first wicket. However, the innings was marred by a collapse, with eight wickets lost in the last 14 overs. Harris top-scored with 45, while Sciver-Brunt and Sanskriti Gupta picked up three and two wickets respectively.

Mumbai Indians' Clinical Chase

MI's chase was set up by the collective bowling performance of UPW, which restricted them to 18 for 1 after five overs. Sciver-Brunt then took charge, hitting a hattrick of boundaries off Saima Thakor. Matthews soon followed, breaking free against Kranti Goud and Tahlia McGrath. The two all-rounders dealt majorly in boundaries, with Sciver-Brunt slamming three boundaries off Sophie Ecclestone to bring up her 50.
