Zimbabwe's Ben Curran Warns Against Complacency Ahead of Bangladesh Test
Ben Curran has cautioned his teammates against complacency as they prepare to face Bangladesh in the second Test match, scheduled to begin on April 28 in Chattogram.
"We are expecting Bangladesh to come really hard at us. We are not expecting this to be an easy game. We have to work hard for every moment," Curran said, urging his teammates to maintain their focus.
The win in the first Test has given the Zimbabweans a lot of confidence, with Curran admitting that the team is in a good place. "The boys are confident. We will keep doing our processes right. Conditions will be different here from Sylhet. We have to adapt to that as quickly as possible," he added.
Curran, who has played four Tests and six ODIs for Zimbabwe, credited the experienced duo of Sean Williams and Craig Ervine for helping him settle down and absorb the pressures of international cricket. "I am relatively new in international cricket so I am like a sponge trying to learn as much as I can from Sean and Craig. It will help my development," he said.
On a personal note, Curran expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe, where he spent his childhood. "I grew up in Zimbabwe. Circumstances took me to England. I played there for a few years and then I returned to play for Zimbabwe. It is a great honour and privilege. I am really enjoying my cricket at the minute," he said.
Curran also mentioned that he regularly takes advice from his brothers Tom and Sam Curran, well-known figures in England's cricketing circle. "I speak to them on most days, especially during a game. I just check in with them. We are a very close-knit family," he added.
