Aminul Islam to Join BCB, Focus on Holding Transparent Elections
Former Bangladesh captain Aminul Islam has announced his intention to join the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to oversee the upcoming elections in October. Islam, who is expected to take over as the BCB president after Faruque Ahmed's removal, has stated that his primary goal is to hold a transparent election and create a strong cricket board.
"I don't have any inclination to stay in the board beyond the elections," Islam said, adding that he is not interested in running in the next election. "My focus is on fulfilling my role until the elections. Whether I'm assigned any tasks afterward, or I return to the ICC, I don't know what the future holds."
Islam, who is currently working as the development officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has been granted an indefinite leave of absence by the ICC to join the BCB. He has also spoken with the ICC and received their approval to take up the role.
Aminul Islam's cricketing career spanned 13 Tests and 39 ODIs, and he went on to become a coach and match referee after retirement. He has also taken up coaching roles in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and ICC over the last two decades.
