India A's top four score 50s as batting fest ends as stalemate

The high-scoring encounter between India A and England Lions ended in a draw with the bat ruling the roost for the fourth consecutive day at Canterbury.

England's tail wagged as they went past India A's total of 557 and added 30 more before being bowled out for 587. The last-wicket pair alone added 49.

India A's batters replied with a strong start by the openers. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran cracked half-centuries. Jaiswal's 64 came off just 60 balls with 80% coming in only boundaries. Their 123-run opening stand came at faster than run-a-ball with Easwaran keeping up with Jaiswal's intent and getting to a half-century himself.

Jaiswal fell to spinner Rehan Ahmed following which Easwaran slowed down a touch. Dhruv Jurel continued his good form from the first innings, getting to a fluent 51-ball half-century. Nitish Reddy, who missed out in the first innings, made up for that in the second innings racing to a 43-ball 51. Reddy's success in the second innings meant all of their designated top six in the match had crossed fifty at least once across both innings.

Brief scores:

India A 557 (Karun Nair 204, Dhruv Jurel 94, Sarfaraz Khan 92; Josh Hull 3-72, Zaman Akhter 3-73) & 241/2 (Abhimanyus Easwaran 68, Yashasvi Jaiswal 64, Dhruv Jurel 54*, Nitish Reddy 52*) drew with England Lions 587 (Tom Haines 175, Dan Mousley 113, Max Holden (101); Mukesh Kumar 3-92)
