European T20 Premier League Postponed to 2026

The European T20 Premier League (ETPL) has been postponed from its initial launch this year to 2026. The decision was made after extensive consultation with key stakeholders across cricket, business, and media.

The league was initially scheduled to take place from July 15 to August 3, featuring six teams, including Cricket Ireland, Cricket Netherlands, and Cricket Scotland as organisers. However, conversations with franchise aspirants, broadcasters, sponsors, and governing bodies led to the decision to postpone the tournament to 2026.

The ETPL was being promoted by Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan and backed by a Delhi-based Indian company. The league was also sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Warren Deutrom, Chair of ETPL, stated: "We're building for the long term. With the right partners, capital, and support across the board, 2026 gives us the ideal runway to launch a league that is professional, competitive, and built to last."
