Gambhir: Winning and Celebrations Important, But Not at the Cost of Lives
Gautam Gambhir, the Indian coach, has expressed his condolences over the tragic incident in Bengaluru where 11 fans lost their lives during a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) roadshow. While Gambhir did not condemn the authorities involved, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing lives over celebrations.
"I think lives of people are far more important, and I will continue to say. We can be a little bit careful of not holding these kinds of roadshows and can probably have them closed doors or something like this in a stadium," Gambhir said.
The former India batsman also spoke about the Indian team's upcoming tour of England, where they will play five Tests. Gambhir indicated that Shreyas Iyer, who has been left out of the squad for now, may be called up at some point during the series.
"Look, anyone can be called. Anyone can be called if they are in good form. We could only pick 18, and the chairman-selector has already answered that question," Gambhir said.
Gambhir also spoke about Jasprit Bumrah's workload management, saying that the team management has not yet decided which matches he will play in.
