Sanjog Gupta Appointed as ICC's New Chief Executive Officer

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the appointment of Sanjog Gupta as their new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 7, 2025. Gupta brings over 20 years of experience in media, entertainment, and sport, having served as CEO, Sports & Live Experiences, at JioStar.

Gupta's career began as a journalist before joining Star India in 2010, holding several leadership roles in content and strategy. He became Head of Sports at Disney & Star India in 2020 and was appointed CEO of JioStar Sports in 2024.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised Gupta's experience in sports strategy and commercialization, stating that his understanding of the global sports landscape and passion for technology will be essential in growing the game.

Gupta expressed his privilege in taking on the role, citing the sport's potential for growth and the passionate support of almost 2 billion fans worldwide. He looks forward to contributing to the next phase of cricket's evolution, expanding its global footprint, and enhancing the fan experience.

The appointment follows a global recruitment process that drew over 2,500 applications from 25 countries. The ICC Board Directors look forward to working closely with Gupta.
