India-Pakistan Clash in WCL Called Off

The World Championship of Legends (WCL) has called off the match between India and Pakistan veterans due to several Indian players refusing to participate. The game was scheduled for Sunday night in Birmingham.

Reason for Cancellation

The Indian players, including Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Shikhar Dhawan, refused to play against Pakistan, citing the current geopolitical situation and prevailing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Organisers' Statement

The WCL organisers stated that they did not intend to hurt anyone's feelings or stir emotions, but ultimately decided to call off the match to avoid discomfort to the Indian cricket legends and the brands that supported the tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan's Statement

Dhawan's team posted on X that he would not participate in any matches against Pakistan, citing the current geopolitical situation and prevailing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Tournament Details

The WCL features six teams, including England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, India, and Pakistan. The league started on July 18, and the final is scheduled for August 2.
