Surrey to Honour Graham Thorpe on Day 2 of Oval Test

Surrey County Cricket Club will dedicate Day 2 of the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval to the remembrance and memory of Graham Thorpe, a former England batsman who died by suicide last year.

Thorpe, who played 100 Tests and 82 ODIs, will be remembered on what would have been his 56th birthday. The day will raise money for mental health charity Mind through the sale of limited-edition headbands designed with Thorpe's wife and daughters.

Thorpe's family has confirmed that he died by suicide after being hit by a speeding train last August. His wife Amanda and daughters Kitty and Emma are working with Mind to reduce the stigma around mental health and encourage open conversations.

The family hopes that "A Day for Thorpey" will help tackle the taboo surrounding death by suicide and encourage others to share their experiences.
