All-round Wareham powers Renegades to second win

Defending champions Melbourne Renegades won their second consecutive game in WBBL 2025, completing a comfortable chase against Sydney Thunder with four wickets to spare.

Put in to bat, Thunder started well with a 60-run opening partnership between Georgia Voll and Tahlia Wilson. However, a middle-overs collapse saw them slip to 79 for 4, losing key wickets including Phoebe Litchfield and Chamari Athapaththu. Anika Learoyd and Heather Knight added 39 runs, and contributions from the lower order helped Thunder reach 148 for 7.

In the chase, Davina Perrin hit three fours in the first over before falling off the last ball, while Courtney Webb and Naomi Stalenberg departed cheaply. Captain Georgia Wareham played a decisive innings of 58 from 32 balls, supported by Alice Capsey (30) and Nicole Faltum (37*), as Renegades completed the chase with 11 balls to spare.

Brief Scores:
Sydney Thunder 148/7 in 20 overs (Anika Learoyd 31, Heather Knight 30; Georgia Wareham 2-25, Deandra Dottin 2-34) lost to Melbourne Renegades 151/6 in 18.1 overs (Georgia Wareham 58, Nicole Faltum 37*; Georgia Voll 2-24, Chamari Athapaththu 2-24) by 4 wickets
