Jess Jonassen withdraws from WPL 2026 mega auction

Jess Jonassen has withdrawn from the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction due to injury. The Australian all-rounder had featured for Delhi Capitals over the three seasons of the WPL, with the team falling agonisingly short at the final stage in each edition.

Jonassen played a pivotal role for the Capitals, winning five Player-of-the-Match awards during the three campaigns. Bought at her base price of INR 50 lakh in the 2023 auction, she picked up more than 10 wickets in the first two seasons and nine in her third, while also scoring 295 runs in 18 innings at a strike-rate of 138.49.

Jonassen was set to go under the hammer in the mega-auction at a base price of INR 30 lakh after the Capitals retained Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp as part of their overseas slots. Their remaining retentions were Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Niki Prasad.

The mega-auction will begin with the marquee set, which includes Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma, Laura Wolvaardt, Renuka Singh Thakur, Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Meg Lanning and Amelia Kerr.
