Chris Jordan, Nikhil Chaudhary blow Renegades away

A four-wicket haul from Chris Jordan and a rapid half-century from Nikhil Chaudhary propelled Hobart Hurricanes to an emphatic win over Melbourne Renegades in Geelong. Renegades were restricted to 145/9 after Jordan's four-fer, and Chaudhary then blazed 79 off 38 balls as Hurricanes chased down the target with 37 balls to spare.

Opting to bowl first, Hurricanes struck early with Josh Brown dismissed for a duck. Tim Seifert counter-attacked aggressively, hitting multiple boundaries to push Renegades to 36/1 after four overs. However, the momentum shifted when Jordan clean bowled Seifert with a yorker, and Rehan Ahmed removed Mohammad Rizwan in the next over.

Rishad Hossain contributed with a tidy spell, dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk. Without mini cameos from Will Sutherland and Hassan Khan, Renegades might have struggled to reach 120. Jordan returned at the death to finish with 4/19, further denting the innings.

In reply, Hurricanes lost Mitch Owen off the first ball, but Chaudhary responded with a hat-trick of boundaries. While Tim Ward struggled, Chaudhary raced to 30 off 12 balls, dominating the chase.

Ben McDermott joined Chaudhary in a match-winning 93-run partnership that sealed the game. Chaudhary fell for 79 after attacking Gurinder Sandhu, but McDermott (49*) and Tim David hit sixes in the 14th over to complete the victory.

Brief scores: Melbourne Renegades 145/9 in 20 overs (Tim Seifert 34; Chris Jordan 4/19) lost to Hobart Hurricanes 149/3 in 13.5 overs (Nikhil Chaudhary 79, Ben McDermott 49*) by 7 wickets.
