Gus Atkinson ruled out of final Ashes Test in Sydney

England fast bowler Gus Atkinson has been ruled out of the Sydney Test after scans confirmed a left hamstring injury.

Atkinson sustained the injury during England's win in the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, leaving the field on the second morning after bowling five consecutive overs. He did not bowl or take the field again.

England have decided not to name a replacement for the fifth and final Test, which begins at the SCG on January 4.

This is the third major injury for England's pace attack. Mark Wood was ruled out after the Brisbane Test due to a knee injury, and Jofra Archer was sidelined with a left-side strain after the Adelaide Test.
