Fresh faces headline India's squad for Australia Test

Five players have received their maiden Test call-ups in India's 15-member squad for the one-off Test against Australia Women in Perth starting March 6. The newcomers are Pratika Rawal, Amanjot Kaur, Kranti Gaud, Vaishnavi Sharma and Sayali Satghare.

India Test squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Amanjot Kaur, Richa Ghosh (wk), Uma Chetry (wk), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Thakur, Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare.

Pratika Rawal returns to the national setup after last featuring in the victorious 2025 World Cup campaign, where her participation was cut short by a hairline fracture to her right ankle.

Shafali Verma, who replaced Rawal in the World Cup semifinal and final, retains her place. She opened alongside vice-captain Smriti Mandhana in India's last five Tests and scored a career-best 205 against South Africa in her previous Test.

Middle-order batter Harleen Deol returns to the Test squad, having last been part of the squads against England and Australia in 2023, though she is yet to make her Test debut. Newcomer Amanjot Kaur adds to the middle-order options alongside Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. Richa Ghosh and Uma Chetry are the wicketkeepers.

Among the spin options are all-rounders Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana, along with newcomer Vaishnavi Sharma. Renuka Thakur, Kranti Gaud and all-rounder Amanjot Kaur provide the seam options.

Notable omissions from the squad that faced South Africa are Saika Ishaque, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Meghna Singh and Priya Punia.


Radha Yadav to captain India A in Asia Cup

The Women's Selection Committee has named a 15-member India A squad for the ACC Rising Star Asia Cup, a T20 tournament. Radha Yadav will captain the side.

India A squad for ACC Rising Star Asia Cup: Humairaa Kaazi, Vrinda Dinesh, Anushka Sharma, Deeya Yadav, Tejal Hasabnis, Nandani Kashyap (wk), Mamta M (wk), Radha Yadav (c), Sonia Mendhiya, Minnu Mani, Tanuja Kanwer, Prema Rawat, Saima Thakor, Jintamani Kalita, Nandni Sharma.

The participation of Deeya Yadav and Mamta M is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence.

The tournament will be held in Thailand from February 13 to 22. India A are in Group B alongside UAE, Pakistan A, and Nepal. Their schedule is:

  • February 13: vs UAE
  • February 15: vs Pakistan A
  • February 17: vs Nepal

Group A consists of Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, Malaysia, and hosts Thailand. The semifinals are on February 20, with the final on February 22.
