The RAPP sheet: Steve Smith, Daryl Mitchell, Umesh Yadav among over 1300 players

RAPP (Registered Available Player Pool) is a key list for IPL franchises to pick replacement players after the auction. The BCCI has shared a list of 1,307 players with franchises, consisting of those who enrolled for the auction but remained unsold on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.

Notable available players include:

  • Steve Smith
  • Reece Topley
  • Jamie Smith
  • Jonny Bairstow
  • Daryl Mitchell (listed at No. 98 with a base price of ₹2 crore; was Player of the Series in the recent India-New Zealand ODI series)

Capped Indian players on the list (each with a base price of ₹75 lakh):

  • Mayank Agarwal
  • KS Bharat
  • Deepak Hooda
  • Navdeep Saini
  • Chetan Sakariya
  • Sandeep Warrier
  • Umesh Yadav

Key Rules:

  • Franchises cannot sign a RAPP player for less than his auction reserve price.
  • Franchises often use RAPP players as net bowlers, but the BCCI clarifies that no franchise has exclusive rights to a player if another franchise wishes to recruit him.
  • To be a replacement player, a player must be on the RAPP list, and his full-season league fee (assuming 100% availability) cannot be less than his listed reserve price.
  • If a player contracted as a net bowler agrees to be a replacement for another franchise, he must be released immediately.
