IPL 2026 Updates Expected for Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 16

An Expert Committee of the Karnataka Government met with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 13 to discuss the return of IPL matches to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

KSCA stated that further updates are expected on the evening of March 16.

During the meeting, KSCA presented details on completed infrastructural upgrades and safety measures at the stadium, aligning with Phase-I recommendations from the Expert Committee. RCB and its operational partners also presented their preparedness plans for hosting matches.

The stadium has been inactive since June 4 of last year, when a stampede during a trophy celebration resulted in 11 fatalities. In January, KSCA received conditional government approval to host IPL and international matches again, pending compliance with specific terms. Formal clearance was granted in February.

Stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to conducting matches safely and seamlessly. If plans proceed, RCB will host five of its seven scheduled home matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium, with the other two to be held in Raipur.
